Here is a "studio 4c" project I did freelance for during the summer.
And it is my first career in Japan.

I did layout for few(10 or so) shots and also some animation.

I learned a lot from the art director Shinji Kimura, and the director Soejima.
Really nice people to work with.

There were no time in the production to adjust the animation timing in the end, but it ended up pretty okay.

Hi. Here is an experiment of making a character model sheet( lot of poses ) in 3D. I wanted to put every pose in the same statue, and ended up with this.

The design itself is from a old drawing sheet I did.

MAYDAY DIGEST! quick short film

Hi. Here is a quick short film me and my friend Brian Brantley put together for a flash class. We got the theme May(the month).Then I found something in the history called Mayday. And with our irrational imagination, we took that source material, and without any right or certainly responsibility, we made an animation out of it. This is the sum of those efforts.

I put together the idea, Storyboards, and did the direction, sound, editing, coloring and compositing. We splitted the shots and worked with them separately. Some are mine and some are his. Most of it is done in flash, except few Backgrounds and timing things.

Anatomy study!

Okay, here I am with another sculpture from Zbrush. I feel I am getting faster and faster making these. This time it is anatomy and muscle study.

I made the whole thing totally from scratch using Zspheres and Zsketches. The rendering is inspired by Film Noir style.

Creating a human model in 3D from scratch is such a good way to learn anatomy!

Creature!! range experiment!

Using z brush, I sometimes think that I need a range in my work. I usually like to make stylized and somewhat simple designs, but I also need to know how to make real(?) and creepy(?) designs too. Here is one of those experiments. It is all made from scratch. Rendered in Zbrush, composed in Photoshop (no matte paintings)
3and half hour from beginning to finnish.

CACTUS RIG in 2h40min!

This time I made a simple cactus rig for a Calarts event.

I worked really fast as I could, and I ended up finishing it from scratch

in 2hours and 40minutes. It involved modeling, texture painting and rigging, as you can see here below. I think it turned out simple and cute.

The rig allows you to make a very squashy and flexible shapes.

If any of the people are interested in testing it, just let me know, and I can make

it downloadable. Here below is a animation test.

Oh, it can even go as crazy as this. Hahaha.

Character Sculpture!

Here I am with another sculpture test. This time I tried to

add more asymmetry elements to the piece. I will push it further in my next piece, but this was a really good practice.

Also, In the beginning, I pushed the shapes around and played with the design in Zbrush. In that way I got a lot of variations of the design.

SEGA work! セブンスドラゴン２０２０（初音ミク）

During the summer break 2011 when I went to Japan to work, I had an great opportunity to work on SEGA`s new upcoming game title at the company Shirogumi. (白組 http://www.shirogumi.com/）.

Posted here is "7th Dragon 2020", (セブンスドラゴン　２０２０) a 3D low poly-style JRPG.　I was mainly in the development of the OP movie sequence that plays as a music PV. I was the head of vocaloid-character "Hatsune Miku".　I did layout, extra rig, rendering, extra set ups, and animation for the sequence.　The game got released 23rd of November 2011.

It is a study/arrangment of a pokemon design.

This is a Test I did in Japan. It is a Zbrush sculpture I made from Hiroshi Maruyama(famous monster and ultraman designer in Japan)s design. In the process of sculpting it, I ended up arranged and pushing some part. Unfortunately I did no more than the head part.

Catfish (Namazu) Sculpture for the earthquake in Japan

This is a Zbrush Sculpture I made for a class in Calarts.　The 2011 Tohoku earthquake（東北地方太平洋沖地震） that hit Japan made me wanna make this. In Japan, "catfish" is often time related to earthquake and people say that an earthquake happened when a cat fish gets angry.　In this sculpture, the huge catfish got sealed into a mountain rock right before it got angry. I really sorry for the thing that happened, and I really hope all the people in the northeast area of Japan will be fine some day.

This is my second year full 3D CG animation film.

The Plot is simply, "A knight meets a weird thirsty animal in the middle of a desert"

Besides some help with the rig, I did all design, story, modeling, texturing, animation, and effects by　myself. I had the idea and story for a year, but the movie was made　in 4 and a half month.

(Russian character and film).

It was one of the many work I did at the studio I TOON in Japan, summer 2010. I did some of the layout, and matte painting for the top one.

One more thing I worked on was this characters short episodes for the TV.

It is a famous clay animation show in Japan about this cute worm and his life.

I helped to make episode 40, the first HD episode in the show.

These was design works with the theme "Vampires".

This is a design I tried to do in Shrek-style. I got the comment that the feet and the　proportions was too cool for shrek, but the colors and the symmetric design worked really well.

The Dracula Vodka. It is an existing alcohol that I saw in Finland for some years ago.

This is a Cannon I designed and modeled,textures and later animated. I used 3Ds Max for this project. I went for the philosophy "form follows functions". I made sure every gimmick works and then that decided the look of this cannon. It was a nice way of thinking.

It was made in 2 month, all the animation is done in the program "TV Paint Animation".

Stomach Boy -Ottawa IAF 2008-

This is my High School animation film.

It made it to Ottawa International Animation Festival in 2008. The Back ground is painted in oil, the characters and the stomach is all hand drawn and hand painted. I can probably say that this was my first debut in the animation world. Thanks to this film I met a lot of people in the industry. People from FILMTECKNARNA, Polygon Pictures and I TOON animation studio in Japan. This later led to an animation internship in Sweden 2009, and Tokyo 2010. Honestly I am really happy with what it did for me. The quality is still rough but I definitely had fun making it.
